On occasion, I go on side quests (i.e. short story contests). These are the results of those forays.
The NYC Midnight Short Story Challenge runs over four rounds. Each round you're handed a genre, a character, and a topic, then given a shrinking word count and a tight deadline to write something brand new. Three of the stories below came out of that contest, and after the final round, I was named the overall winner.
