I was ten years old when those words were flung at me in front of the entire village, by a man who had served as our moral compass for as long as I could remember.

And yet, I wasn’t always hated and feared. In spite of all that came to pass, my earliest memories are happy ones. Even without a father, a girl forever set apart from the other Alboradan settlers by my pale skin and strange eyes, I was a carefree child.
